BASTE Barbecue Spaghetti Recipe
Ingredients
For Ground Beef
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- ½ cup diced onion
- 2 tablespoons of the baste Booster
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
For Pasta and Sauce
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 2 large onions, diced
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 4 ounces canned diced tomatoes
- 3 ounces tomato paste
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
- 1 cup of BASTE (we recommend Spicy)
- 16 ounces spaghetti
- 1 pound Ground Beef
Directions
For Ground Beef
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add beef, Bell Peppers and onion and cook, stirring, until the beef is no longer pink and the mushroom liquid is mostly evaporated, 8 to 10 minutes.
For Pasta and Sauce
- Bring large pot of water to a boil. Meanwhile, pour oil into a heavy-bottomed 12-inch stainless steel skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil shimmers, add onions and garlic. Cook until onion turns translucent, stirring often with a wooden spoon, about 5 minutes.
- Add diced tomatoes and tomato paste to skillet, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for five minutes. Add sugar, oregano, and basil. Stir well, and cook for another five minutes. Transfer the sauce to a blender, and add BASTE. Blend until smooth.
- Add spaghetti to boiling water and cook according to the directions on the box. When done, drain the pasta in a colander. Return pasta to empty pot and pour in barbecue sauce. Stir well, and add ground beef. Serve.
